Welcome to the Scout Section
Our friendly troop meets on a Monday evening and has around 30 members, led by 5 leaders and 1 young leader
The use of Scout Patrols was suggested in our founder, Lord Robert Baden-Powell's book - Scouting for Boys as a way to give responsibility to as many scouts as possible.
Our Scouts are split into 4 Patrols, each of which are named after Birds. We have Gulls, Woodpeckers, Gannets & Ravens
Each patrol has a patrol leader and an assistant patrol leader whose responsibility it is to teach new members the troop code of conduct and expectations.
We will always try and arrange at least 3 camps or nights away events per year.
We also arrange activity days in addition to the Monday Troop night.
Nothing at the 35th is compulsory but we would encourage every scout to attend as many or as few of these extra sessions as they would like to.
Every scout has the opportunity to learn and achieve lots of badges. These can be seen on the other pages in this section of our website, along with descriptions of how they can achieve them.
There are so many that it would be almost impossible to earn them all on Troop nights so we actively encourage working at home on particular badges that interest your child. You will just need to provide us with some evidence so that we can agree that all of the criteria has been met.
The highest award in Scout is the Chief Scout Gold Award, it is not easy to achieve but with your help we will provide all the tools & knowledge that your child needs to be able to complete this amazing achievement.
